Bonjour Monsieur Bourgoin…just a quick(and 30 year belated ‘thankyou’/'merci’) for a chat we had back in my grade 12 year, when, with my 2 brothers graduated, and out in the workworld, making ‘gobs’ of money, I briefly considered exiting grade 12 early to seek my fortune…it was a conversation you had with me that got me back in the game, and enabled me to get that diploma, that allowed me later to work and travel all across Canada… I am forever grateful you took the time to speak with me…. thanks again!
take care, merci, Keith Kinloch.
I am curious to find out if Jerry Ozipko is the same one that taught in TR, BC. If it is the same one it is a small world.
I just want Monsieur Bourgoin to know that I have “tried” to continue my french lessons – I did evening classes about 5 years ago for awhile but had to drop it again when life got too hectic.
On my “to do before I am 50″ list I have a “wish” to do a 6 week “French intensive” in France. I have the school and the place picked out. Now…if I could just figure out how to convince my employer to give me a leave of absence…..
My fav memory is still reciting “un morceau du sucre si tu plait Francois” without getting tongue tied in one of those summer afternoons in French lab..hee hee.
Just so you know, you made French a “life long” learning for me!
Dorothy
Mr Yeske
I was talking to a friend about the qualities of a good teacher, and found myself using you as a template: funny, fast, totally on top of your stuff, and a crack shot with a piece of chalk. I don’t think they’d allow the chalk these days, but it was fantastic at shutting up the comedians at the back of the class. We learnt! I don’t think I ever needed to use a single thing you taught us, but I enjoyed the learning. Thanks.
I was wondering why Ms. Tisdale is not on the teachers list.
[are you sure you aren't thinking of Ms. Esdale? or a beauty pageant in Saskatchewan?]
Bonjour Keith Kinloch, The fact that thirty years have passed only makes the message more poignant. Thank you for having taken the time to do it. Your message has made a difference for me, too. As a result of it I have decided to attend the reunion and I, too, will travel across Canada to get there. I understand that you are unable to attend. Please know that I will miss seeing you. Best wishes, Monsieur Bourgoin.
Monsieur Bourgoin
MrYeske. Did you ever wonder what ever happened to Binky and Lambchop? They became characters in my grade 4s word problems 17 years ago (18?–it’s a blur) when I first became a teacher. I hope you don’t mind. When I taught grade 1, Binky and Lambchop had many adventures with rocks, flowers, cars and butterflies. Now, in Kindergarten, they have adventures with Harvey the Wonder Hippo.
Patricia
It will be great to put faces to a long list of names that have already caused me to stare out the window for long periods of time.
And, it will definitely be worth it if I could just wrestle Mr. Belmont to the ground one last time!
See you there,
Gordon Glanz
Hi Aaron,
I have finally tracked down Mr. Brunanski’s agent in Vancouver. They were closed by the time I matched them up, but I have left a message for them to call me.
I am trying to contact him in my role as a Producer, as he may be ashamed and hiding from his past as a high school English teacher. He probably won’t recall my name at all, so I will advise you of my progress accordingly.
It is very exciting being a Junior Detective. I am sure that you have been playing this role for some time now for reunion purposes. Mr. B. was a really good guy. In fact, I think he was the best English teacher I ever had.
Talk soon…
I’d be very pleased to attend the Saturday evening function. I’m looking forward to it. David Nattress.
I know that I am already on the list, but this is just to OFFICIALLY confirm that Jerry Ozipko will be attending the reunion.
All the best. Looking forward to the event.
I shall arrange to purchase my ticket in the next several days.
[please note - teachers are only required to purchase tickets for their companions - your ticket is free]
Roy Wright will attend
Greetings:
Your information and web site are superb.
Aaron
I have mentioned the reunion to a few people even as far as Nanaimo B.C. About me attending Aaron I have been seriously considering it. I am not sure if I will be in town that weekend. Put me down as a possible OK and will confirm later , probably middle of Sept.
Good Luck
Glenn
Hi Aaron,
Thanks for your work on the website!
As I have just retired from teaching this past June, I have had lots of time to reminisce. Without a doubt, my years at Scona were the most fun and the most rewarding so I am looking forward to attending the reunion.
I can’t believe I can actually recognize the names of the students I taught and can, for the most part, see their faces in my mind’s eye!
I would love to attend the reunion. Is it too late?
Patricia
Thanks to Don Munro for tracking me down. I was less than half his age (22) when I started teaching English at Scona (‘68-
‘86). In ‘85 I left the ‘greatest profession’ to become an actor/writer. Partially to blame was my friend and colleague, Krishna Dindial, who cast me in one of his productions of Shakespeare–The Merchant of Venice. In ‘86 I left for Vancouver with its burgeoning film industry, and within a year realized my dream of being on The Beachcombers. I played many small roles on shows like The X-Files, McGuyver, Cold Squad, but my fifteen minutes of fame came with an appearance in the original Scary Movie, playing the guy who gets run down by a car. Greetings to my ‘old’ students and fellow teachers.
Mr. Brunanski – don;t i recall some ads you were in as well? – Craig encouraged me to start up teh Scona paper again – I have still have copies and will scan and post them this weekend – I think I have most of the editions from 1975-76 – in about 1995 I bumoed into a musician who played in a band called Sour Grapes – who played a dance at Scona – I reviewed the band and it was not a favourable review – many years later the member of Sour Grapes remembered my review – memories – anoyone else remember Sour Grapes? – or for that matter the foosball hall across the street with BTO blaring out loud – man – what a trip!
Dear Aaron:
Thanks for the invitation to the 77 reunion. Would love to be there,
but will be out on Tour to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashvill. Wish you
all a good time at a successful “77 REUNION.”
Sincerly
Steve Gorgichuk
Bonjour & Salvete from French & Latin memories!
I’m coming and bringing the 1977 class lists. I’ve still got the marks, but maybe you don’t want to see those again!
See you Saturday….
Jan
Mr. Yeske and Mr. Breitkrietz who believed in me. Thank you. Especially Mr. Yeske who kicked me out of class in ‘90 and ‘91. You gave me the tools to move on.
I’m currently finishing my MBA at the University of Chicago in analytic finance. An opportunity I would not have enjoyed without your patience and dedication.
Thank You.
Mr. Wright, how’s the swing? Tell me Trente has mellowed and is doing well.
Mr. Peete, an 80 in your AC class and 16 points higher on Provincials? Perhaps you underestimated me?
-Tom
I saw Marie Fuller just a few months ago!
